The NICAVANGELISTS Need Your Help!!!

Jonny, a Lead Nicavangelist

Okay friends, SERIOUS HELP NEEDED…

I am at the stage of needing to send our older boys for a deeper level of training in the things of God. I really believe that we need to shoot for the stars in order to best prepare our budding apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Our overall goal is not to evangelise Nicaragua, but rather to send Nicaraguans out in ministry to the World…

In July of this year I am aiming at sending Jonny and Stivey on a DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). This course is generally 5 months in duration, and concentrates on knowing God and making him known (3 month lecture phase and 2 month outreach…). One of my desires is that the boys know English, and so whilst I realise there are some WONDERFUL YWAM schools in Latin America (and cheaper), I really believe that they are to attend a school in the USA (we will already be there, and they already have visas…).

Jonny and Stivey have now been with us for 2 years, and they have proven themselves time and time again. They have endured days without food, sleeping on the streets, being verbally abused whilst ministering in public venues, have been spat at, told they smell like dogs, have been the laughing stock of various groups of people in Nicaragua, have been turned away by Churches when coming to serve, have been at times unduly criticized by brothers and sisters in Christ who’ve possessed leadership positions, and all for the glory of the Great I AM – the loving one, who died so that we’d all have the opportunity to live in an eternal relationship with our Heavenly Father.

At this point we are looking at sending these leaders in training to a bilingual school in either Texas or California. However, if you know of any YWAM schools that offer a bilingual program in these or any other states, please contact me (Capitalontheedge@gmail.com).

And so today I am asking you to be a part of this. We need your help! We are seeking to raise some $10k per Nicavangelist, which will cover the costs of their flights, school and additional costs relating to this important experience (outreach expenses, etc.).

Please watch the boys in some older videos, when we initially started our Nicavangelists’ program two years ago…

POST by STIVEY: Misguided Melvin

The Stivey we Know and Love - Deeply Feeling and Contemplative

Hi everyone! I’m going to share a friend’s story with you…

One day my friend, Melvin, shared with me that he was being mistreated by his parents. He explained in detail that they were using and abusing him. Melvin was ordinarily a really cheerful chap, but his parents ruined his life by making him live sinfully. Melvin’s parents ordered him to steal in the streets and supermarkets so that they had the means to satisfy their cravings for alcohol and cigarettes.

Well time went by and I lost contact with Melvin. He quit school. Two years after learning about Melvin’s lifestyle I ran into him on the street. He looked really different and was sporting several tattoos. We started talking and he told me that he had become a thief. After talking for a while we went our separate ways.

One year after chatting with Melvin on the street I saw his older brother.  I asked how Melvin and he were doing. Melvin’s brother began to cry. He explained to me that Melvin had died. I asked what had happened and listened as the story unfolded.

Melvin was robbing the son of a police officer and viciously stabbed him. He ran away leaving the son on the street. The Police soon arrested Melvin for his violent crime. The arresting officer was the kid’s father.

He took Melvin into a secret room and shot Melvin five times in the head and six times in his torso. He then proceeded to chop off all of his toes. I was shocked by the way that he had died and thought it a terrible shame, however I realised that the parents were also to blame as they had never taught him any manners.

“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

POST by STIVEY: Family Fun in the Miami Sun

Stivey performing in CREATED, at the Maranatha Assembly in Chicago

Hello, my name is Steven. This time, I am going to tell you about a really fun experience that I had.

On the tenth of August this year in Miami, Florida, I was visiting my grandmother when my friend Yordy, sent me a message inviting me to a place out of the city. I did not know where we’d be going and so it was a surprise for me.

Yordy was with Jed and Sezni. They had planned to go with one of their friends to a water park. Jed, Yordy, Sezni, and their friend, Brian Conner, came to pick me up so we could all go.

When I saw the park, I was like “Wow!” because I had never been to a water park before and it was my first time seeing one. When we arrived and got out of the car, we could see the really big slides that covered the whole park.

Walking towards the park, we saw a huge line and so we had to wait outside for ten minutes. During those ten minutes, I waited with excited anticipation, to have the opportunity to go on one of the biggest slides that the park had.

Once we were inside, we went and changed into our swimming suits so that we could jump on the slides. When we were climbing up the stairs which led to the slides, we began to realise that we were rather really high up in the air, and I am a little afraid of heights, but Jed said to me, “Don’t be afraid.”

Once at the top, I sat in the mouth of the great slide. The water was so cold and Yordy did not want to go on the slide anymore because he was really, really scared. We told him to live a little and to go on with us but he refused, so we left him there and jumped on the tubes to go down the slide.

Inside of the slide, it was very dark. When I arrived at the bottom I was a tad shaken up but mostly happy because I was having so much fun with my family.

After a while of going up and down, up and down, I went to a really big pool and saw Sezni, Jed, and Brian. I asked them where Yordy was and they answered by saying that he was sitting on the stairs by the pool.

I was having a nice time chatting with Jed in the pool, when all of a sudden the water in the pool started to move. The water swelled and big waves formed. Being in the waves was really fun but then Jed grabbed me and was throwing me in the air.

Then, he jumped on top of me and I almost started to drown. I went running out of the pool and when I finally got out of the pool, Brian said, “Let’s go and eat.” So we all went to the restaurant like a happy family.

When we finished eating, we went on other water slides to have fun and once again, Yordy did not want to get on, so we left him there again. At the bottom, Brian said to us “The park is going to close soon.” So we went to change and get ready to leave.

Right when we were going to leave, we realized Sezni was missing. We became really worried as we looked for him. We hoped that nothing had happened to him. Jed and his friend went to go and look around the park for him but Yordy and I stayed at the entrance.

Twenty minutes passed and we didn’t see anything. Then far away we saw Sezni walking towards us crying. The good thing is that nothing happened to him and thank God Jed and Brian came back worried, but then they saw Sezni.

We went to the car to leave the water park and thank God everything went well and we had lots of fun. It was an unforgettable day for us.

Thank you for reading my story. Bye.

POST by ELIEZER: Stivey's Sad Suicide Story

Stivey mucking around in the Ohio Valley

Hello my name is Eliezer and this time I am going to tell you a story about Stiven’s family

My friend Stiven is a funny, nice, and very good friend but like everyone, he has a lot of problems in his life.

Stivens aunt, named Luisa, is a very kind and humble lady. She had a son named Jonathan and he was 19 years old. He was Stiven’s best friend but he had a problem with drugs and alcohol. He would always be with people that were involved in gangs and he would not listen to his mum.

About four years ago, around Easter time, Luisa decided to take a trip to the beach with her family. They decided to rent a mini bus that would make the trips to the beach, together with others from the community who also wanted to go. She did not know that it would be one of the worst trips of her life. The day of the trip, everyone was really excited, but the day before Jonathan had had a fight with his mum. He was high on drugs and acting crazily.

The time to go to the beach had arrived and Jonathan was mad at his mum. He went to Stiven and told him what had happened with his mum and Stiven pleaded him to not be mad with her. He gave him an idea to ask for forgiveness but Jonathan didn’t want to so he did not  listen to him and he went to the back of the minibus and started to drink alcohol.

When they got to the beach, Jonathan got into a fight with his mum but this time he went too far and he hit her with a bottle of alcohol that he had in his hand. Her head started to bleed and she started to cry and so Jonathan ran away.

Jonathan’s mum asked Stiven to go and look for him with the help of other people and so they searched for him for two hours. When they finally found him, he was on the rocks where the waves were crashing down.

When Jonathan saw the search party, he jumped off the edge of the rocks calling out “Sorry mum” and he died. The waves cut his body in half. It was impossible to get him out. Even a police boat tried to get him out but failed.

Stiven was really upset because Jonathan was his best friend and he did not know how to tell Jonathan’s mum because it would be difficult for her to take.

Stivey’s experience shows us that addictions and bad company make us do stuff that we might regret. Thank you for reading my story.

POST by STIVEY: Eliezer's Highly Haunted House

Stivey and Eliezer leading worship

Hello, my name is Stiven and I am going to tell you a story about unexpected things that happen in Nicaragua.

Three years ago, my friend Eliezer lived with his grandfather on a farm and he worked in the field with his grandfather. Eliezer told me about things that his grandfather would tell him, such as mysterious things that would suddenly appear.

On the farm, there was an abandoned house. A long time ago, some people went there to work on the farm and they slept at Eliezer’s grandfather’s house. One of these folks became friends with Eliezer. His name was Juan and he was the same age as Eliezer. Juan took care of animals that were on the farm.

Now both Eliezer and Juan liked adventures. One day they decided to go to a haunted house on their farm for the night, because Eliazer’s grandfather said that it was a scary house, where others went to scare people. They were awake until 12 midnight and they did not see anything, so they fell asleep not knowing what would happen.

At three in the morning, Juan woke up and went to the bathroom. Whilst visiting the lavatory, someone or something called to him and he was really scared and went running into the house but the door to the room where he had been sleeping would not open.

Juan looked for some place where he could get in but it wasn’t to be and the mysterious voice kept on calling. Whilst terrified for his life, he turned around to see what was there and he saw a black animal with red eyes, and the animal kept on getting bigger and bigger with each step that he took towards him.

Juan started running and climbed through a window of the house, into the same bedroom he’d been sleeping in, and woke up Eliezer. Juan told his companion to get out of the house but Eliezer did not listen to him and he told Juan to go back to sleep.

At four thirty in the morning something unexpected happened. The bed that they were sleeping in moved, and they heard something walking above the ceiling. Both Juan and Eliezer were very scared. They were about 2 km away from the nearest house!

Eliezer asked Juan to look for a torch so that they could leave. In that moment my friend Eliezer, thought that he was going to die. Juan planned to use the horses in order to escape. They jumped onto the horses and left without looking behind them. As they rode away, they could hear the creature behind them, following along!.

When they arrived home they were really scared. They could not believe it. They’d just experienced one of the most terrifying nights of their lives and it was all because they did not believe what his grandfather had said about that haunted house.

This story goes to shows us, that people’s crazy stories are not always lies. The stories are surprising to the person who is listening and hard to believe, but not necessarily a lie.

Thank you for reading my story and God bless you.

Eliezer with Grandad and Granny (UK) and little Brien-brother-Billy

POST by STIVEY: Family (Sighs)

Stivey with his Mum and some of his family (and friends)

This is a story about how my family and I used to live.

When I was just seven years old, my family and I did not have a place to live. We ended up living with some of my cousins but it was a terrible arrangement. During our time living with extended family, we experienced a lot of shame and humiliation.

Our relatives did not want us to live with them, but we did not have any other place to go. Our cousins insulted us and treated us badly. We are related to my cousins through my mum. However, it made no difference to my family that we were from the same blood. They hated us living with them. They swore at us constantly.

My brothers did not have high paying jobs. We only had sufficient money to purchase food.

My uncles and aunties were very mean. They would tell my cousins that they should make our lives difficult so that we would want to leave. Their hearts were not at all good.

But my grandmother (my mother’s mum) did not know what was happening to us because she did not live there in the house with us.

Years passed and when I was eleven years old I got my first job, selling cheese. Well actually, my role was to just carry the cheese with a friend of mine. Every day I took the cheese to a market, but the job didn’t generate a lot of money for me. Everything I made, I gave to my mum.

One day, my grandmother found out about the problems my family was experiencing. She went without telling anyone to the bank, and sought a loan for ten thousand dollars. All thanks to God, they gave my gran the money and she gave it to my parents.

When she gave it to them, they were really, extremely happy. They were then in a position to purchase a house away from where my cousins lived, in another part of town.

My dad and brothers worked hard to pay back my grandmother and thanks to God we are no longer in the same house as our cousins.

We thank God that he put our Gran on a path to help us. Now my family is happy because we have had so much help. Today, when asked, I say that my uncles, aunts and cousins do not exist.

True family are people who do not turn their back on you and who support you, regardless of circumstances. With God, everything is possible.

Thank you for Reading my story.

Stivey, performing at Solid Rock Assembly in Minnesota

POST by STIVEY: Thankfully the One Who Got A Way

Once, my brother was playing football. Well football is his favourite sport and he was playing in a park and a guy was there. After my brother had finished playing, the fellow who was also at the park wanted to steal my brother’s money.

My brother left the park at great speed, running towards our house. When he looked back there wasn’t just one chap chasing him, there were now two. My brother ran to where my cousins were. My cousins grabbed rocks from the ground and started pelting them at the would-be-robbers, who thanks to my cousins, ran away.

My brother didn’t know it, but the thieves lived in the same neighborhood as us. I think the robbers were waiting for their time of revenge. They didn’t act, they just waited.

One day, the robbers were watching my brother. They wanted to stab him with a knife. The thieves almost succeeded. My brother was fighting with one of them and the other pulled out a knife and threw it at my brother’s neck. However, my brother saw the knife coming and ducked away from it, only being slightly nicked on his neck.

Thanks to God, someone called for my cousins, who arrived on the scene quick-smart. My cousins started throwing stones at the two bad dudes and they started to run, but my cousin hit one of them. He lay on the ground in pain and the other ran away and left his companion lying there in the dirt.

My cousins wasted no time in doling out their punishment. They beat him. They nearly killed him! Then my brother said to my cousins “stop it, or he'll die!”

The police arrived shortly after and took the robber away as their prisoner and put him in prison. And so they never tried to steal from my brother again and thank God he was not killed.
