POST by STIVEY: Family Fun in the Miami Sun

Stivey performing in CREATED, at the Maranatha Assembly in Chicago

Hello, my name is Steven. This time, I am going to tell you about a really fun experience that I had.

On the tenth of August this year in Miami, Florida, I was visiting my grandmother when my friend Yordy, sent me a message inviting me to a place out of the city. I did not know where we’d be going and so it was a surprise for me.

Yordy was with Jed and Sezni. They had planned to go with one of their friends to a water park. Jed, Yordy, Sezni, and their friend, Brian Conner, came to pick me up so we could all go.

When I saw the park, I was like “Wow!” because I had never been to a water park before and it was my first time seeing one. When we arrived and got out of the car, we could see the really big slides that covered the whole park.

Walking towards the park, we saw a huge line and so we had to wait outside for ten minutes. During those ten minutes, I waited with excited anticipation, to have the opportunity to go on one of the biggest slides that the park had.

Once we were inside, we went and changed into our swimming suits so that we could jump on the slides. When we were climbing up the stairs which led to the slides, we began to realise that we were rather really high up in the air, and I am a little afraid of heights, but Jed said to me, “Don’t be afraid.”

Once at the top, I sat in the mouth of the great slide. The water was so cold and Yordy did not want to go on the slide anymore because he was really, really scared. We told him to live a little and to go on with us but he refused, so we left him there and jumped on the tubes to go down the slide.

Inside of the slide, it was very dark. When I arrived at the bottom I was a tad shaken up but mostly happy because I was having so much fun with my family.

After a while of going up and down, up and down, I went to a really big pool and saw Sezni, Jed, and Brian. I asked them where Yordy was and they answered by saying that he was sitting on the stairs by the pool.

I was having a nice time chatting with Jed in the pool, when all of a sudden the water in the pool started to move. The water swelled and big waves formed. Being in the waves was really fun but then Jed grabbed me and was throwing me in the air.

Then, he jumped on top of me and I almost started to drown. I went running out of the pool and when I finally got out of the pool, Brian said, “Let’s go and eat.” So we all went to the restaurant like a happy family.

When we finished eating, we went on other water slides to have fun and once again, Yordy did not want to get on, so we left him there again. At the bottom, Brian said to us “The park is going to close soon.” So we went to change and get ready to leave.

Right when we were going to leave, we realized Sezni was missing. We became really worried as we looked for him. We hoped that nothing had happened to him. Jed and his friend went to go and look around the park for him but Yordy and I stayed at the entrance.

Twenty minutes passed and we didn’t see anything. Then far away we saw Sezni walking towards us crying. The good thing is that nothing happened to him and thank God Jed and Brian came back worried, but then they saw Sezni.

We went to the car to leave the water park and thank God everything went well and we had lots of fun. It was an unforgettable day for us.

Thank you for reading my story. Bye.

POST by YORDY: Vida Sin Sentido

Yordy working hard on his BLOG POST

Since I was 8 years of age, I thought bad thoughts which were caused by the people around me. I thought that my life did not mean anything, that friends did not truly exist, because the friends that I had would just fill my head with bad thoughts.

They showed me how to do bad things. When people would try to help me, I always tried to make their life a living hell. I did not trust anybody.

My family turned their back on me and I never had love that a kid should get when they are that age. Everything that happened every day would just make it worse. I would cry with hatred for all people, mainly my family and my so called ‘friends’ that would laugh at me when they saw what would happen to me.

I was around 8 or 9 years old and living on the streets. I smoked marijuana since I was little. I would go and rob people with an ex-friend. I was lost on the streets.

I had dangerous jobs like killing cows. I would cut their heads off and then take their skin off. It was not a pretty sight. It was an experience I will never forget. I would earn just enough to eat, even though some days I would not eat.

I was exposed to death in everything that I did. I also had problems with depression because I knew that no one would give their life for me. The main problem for me at that time of my life was that I was so close to committing suicide by jumping in front of a moving car. However, I thank God because he gave me the strength to keep on moving forward.

Today I am alive because of the grace of God. When I accepted Jesus into my heart, my life changed. He showed me how to live life through him. My point is that it does not matter who is with you, it does not matter how many bad things have happened to you, if you have done something bad it is your turn to ask God to forgive you and show you how to live a life with him, the only true source of happiness.

Your life will be real and I invite you to give your problems to Jesus.

Brother, if Jesus came to die for us on Earth, it was not so that we could suffer. He has a purpose for each and every one of us. Believe me, everyone has a marvelous place in Heaven - but stop thinking about yourself. Help people that need it, give your love to other people.

God bless you, Amen!

Yordy, one clever tricker

AMEN

POST by YORDY: The Purpose Driven Search

Raffy, Yordy & Jonny

My time in the States was very exciting. We met a lot of people with good hearts. They talked to us about their pasts and the changes that God has made in their lives.

We too, were able to share the truth about how our lives were before we got to know Jesus. We had very hard lives when we were lost on the streets. We only did bad things, and so I thank God for placing Jed and Elizabeth Brien in my life.

They are a very good family who follow the foot prints of our God. They showed us how to live with Jesus in our hearts. We too have been able to help others make changes in their lives. We’ve been able to help people who really needed it, in the United States.

I have a lot of faith in God, that he will give us another opportunity to share the gift that he has given us.

I hope to see God move in a lot of lives on this next trip (to Minnesota and Wisconsin) and also hope that the people we visit will learn more about the purpose that God has for their lives.

Thanks for reading and God bless you.

POST by YORDY: Family Feud!

Yordy with his grandmother, aunty and Beycker

When I was 16 my uncle was very drunk and was fighting with my other uncle. I was bathing at the time. I finished my bath and saw my uncles fighting. They were really hurting each other a lot. One of my uncles released a dog (pit-bull) into the house. The dog bit one of my uncle’s arms and would not let go.

The people who were in my house helped get the dog off my uncle’s arm. My grandmother was crying a lot, which is just awful because she has problems with her nerves. The people in my house managed to release my uncle from the dog, and tied the dog up.

My uncle lost a lot of blood and had a very large wound. I went to the hospital with my uncle and they put 13 or 15 stitches in his arm. I do not remember very well, it was an extremely ugly experience for me.

I have faith that God will help my uncles to make the changes they need to in order to have good emotions, so that they can get along with other people. I ask you to pray for them because they fight a lot and have many conflicts. It’s all in God's hands. Thanks for everything, God bless.

POST by YORDY: Testimony

Yordy & Gran

My name is Yordy and I am 17 years old.

When I was just two years old my mom left our house and walked out of my life. She moved to Panama. My dad was with me just for my birth and then disappeared from my life. It is very sad to remember all that.

My life of poverty grew harder and harder.

One day I was with a close friend, at his house, which is located near where I used to live. He liked listening to very satanic rock music, which contained very bad words. I still remember that day that, because he was smoking marijuana and I asked for some. I then became addicted to Marijuana.

I liked rock music. My friends laughed at me because of this. I just told them that someday I would hurt them and grew up with a very spiteful mind. I felt no love for anyone, just hatred and envy. I started smoking Marijuana at 8 years of age.

My grandmother lived with me after my childhood. I was the bad guy in my class. I was completely evil, robbing my classmates and beating my own friends. I grew up hating everyone in my head. I hated my parents for what they did to me.

When I was 8 my mum arrived from Panama to the house where I was living. I was very happy, though felt a little weird because I had no feelings for her.

After 3 days a man came to my house and asked for forgiveness, because he had left me alone. I was crying of joy and said “okay.” He hugged me and gave me many clothes.

Within days my mum asked to have a relationship again, just like before, but he angrily said “no” and ran to my room and told me “you are not my friend! I just wanted to have a relationship with your mother again!” I went to the street to smoke Marijuana again.

For 5 or 6 years I lived in the world of drugs. I had a poor life. I cut my arm with a knife three times and tried to hang myself.

Grandmother was concerned whenever I tried to hurt myself and always went to the hospital with me. When things like that happened she thought I was crazy, but did not know that all I needed was true love.

One day I was with a friend and he told me about a boy was practicing tricking. I went and saw this boy and laughed at him. I told him he looked stupid, like a monkey. I thought he might break a foot or an arm, but he just laughed at me and told me that wouldn’t happen.

I felt bad. I left that place and started to cry a lot in the street, because I was having problems with my grandmother.

A few years before this happened I had to start working (when I was just 10 years old). I went to a place called “Escasan” – a place where many guys put cows into a truck. The pay was very bad and it was a very difficult job too, but for me it was the only way to make a living because Nicaragua is a very poor country.

I was afraid of the cows and laughed frequently. I laughed because I wanted to work, yet inside I was scared of the cows.

One day I decided to try and pull a cow down, to prove my strength and conquer my fear. Thank God nothing happened to me. I stopped being afraid of cows. I grabbed a stick and beat the cow until she was bleeding heavily. Everyone laughed about it.

I worked at this job for many years, earning very little Money. I needed the money to buy marijuana, but killing cows is very horrible and difficult work.

Over the years I started practicing “tricking,” which is like gymnastics. We didn’t have the resources to practice in a gym, and so we just put sawdust  on the ground.

Yordy Tricking Near His Home in Managua, Nicaragua

A lot with my friends practised with me and we thought eventually we’d be famous - people would look at us like we were rock stars or something.

One day my friend went to a mall and started to “trick.” He loved tricking in front of people and it was there that he met a very interesting family from Australia. They went up to him and said “Hey, we’ve been looking for you for a very long time. We’ve seen your videos on youtube and we want you to come and live in our house.” The condition was that he had to give kids tricking clases. He said “yes” and went with another friend to their house.

They were there for two weeks and took another friend, Beycker. They explained everything to me and I practiced whilst they were gone. After about three weeks I received a call from my friend asking if I could go with them. I said yes.

Yordy and the Beautiful People of Capital on the Edge

I had a great time, enjoying the fun at their house. I danced a lot, even with people from my new community. I still had communication problems. I'm very shy. But thank God because I was having so much fun!

Yordy Having FUN! (With Francesca Brien)

We went to the beach and practised “tricking.” I thought everyone was crazy or drunk. I still did not believe in God. I thought God was just a story. I made fun of people who went to church, but one day they took me to church.

At the Beach with Anna and the Brien Family

A while later I was asked if I wanted to have God in my heart and I said “yes.” That day, for the first time in my life, I felt good in my heart. I felt peace after feeling empty for such a long time. I felt God’s love.

Yordy at Church

Whenever I think of my past I become very sad. However, I'm now very happy because I have God in my heart and my life is full of happiness.

Now I'm traveling with Capital on the Edge to countries with a mission, preaching the word of God and showing the change in my life.

We went on a trip for God to El Salvador. We were very happy and so were the Churches. They wept for us and they washed our feet, which was unusual and special. They said that God was preparing a special place for us in Heaven.

Yordy with the Nicavangelists, in El Salvador

We then returned to Nicaragua to apply for our visas to travel to the US. It is very difficult for a Nicaraguan to get an American visa. But we prayed frequently and gave it all to God. People made fun of us and told us that we wouldn’t get a visa because we are por. They laughed at us. I told them “if we're getting a visa, it’s because we are rich in faith. We have the power of God and so everything is posible.

Thanks to our God our entire group received US visas. We decided to travel to California, one of the largest states in the USA. Right now we are here, sharing the word and love of GOD.

People are very friendly here and it’s a beautiful country. It's amazing what God does with all the lovely people here. God has a special place in Heaven for all of them and I'm sure it's time to share the love of God with the rest of the world.

Thanks for Reading and God bless you.
