The Vision
of Capital on the Edge is to empower young Nicaraguan youths to grab a hold of
their world and see a brightness of future by assisting them in identifying
their goals and needs, constructing a roadmap to get there, and partnering in
the implementation of effective plans so that young Nicaraguans can build their
tomorrow...
Nicaragua
is the poorest Spanish speaking country in the world. This last century has
seen Nicaragua experience civil war, dictatorships, all forms of political
ideology (communism, socialism and capitalism) and devastating natural
disasters (hurricanes and earthquakes).
Half of
Nicaragua’s population are children and youth, and with 80% unemployment and
very few real opportunities, many young Nicaraguans turn to prostitution, gang
warfare, drugs, alcohol and thievery to alleviate their dire circumstances.
Capital on
the Edge desires to alleviate poverty and help to build Nicaragua, by engaging
youth in realizing that there are problems, and helping them to find solutions
to these problems.
Capital on
the Edge has two arms:
The Nicavangelists:
The
Nicavangelists Troupe was formed out of a desire to see young people rescued
from some of Nicaragua's most dangerous Mercados (market places). The lads
we've taken in are fatherless, orphaned, abused, neglected & extremely
poor. They're also strong, talented, handsome and well-humoured young men, with
boatloads of potential for a world desperately in need of hope.Through dramatic
arts, the Nicavangelists Troupe have seen many young men realise that they have
a future. In turn, these lads have helped the Troupe to love and encourage even
more youths, as we take the message of hope to the World.
It is our
desire to see a generation of young Nicaraguans trained up and equipped as
people who will impact their world...
Our
Nicavangelists use their talents to encourage others and they do this through a
Street Theatre Production which incorporates all forms of music (charted,
Hillsong, Planetshakers, Acid Jass, Punk Rock, Techno, Pop, etc.) and movement
genres such as Bboy, Tricking, Electronic Dance, Latin Dance (Bachatta, Salsa),
Nicaraguan Traditional Dance, street performance, drama, and many more.

HipHop2inspire
was formed out of a desire to challenge young Nicaraguans, in urban
communities, to use their talents as a source of inspiration for those in their
world. HipHop2inspire coaches young people out of addictions and habits that
form the basis of the cycle of poverty, and trains young people to give back to
their community.
