POST by STIVEY: Family Fun in the Miami Sun

Stivey performing in CREATED, at the Maranatha Assembly in Chicago

Hello, my name is Steven. This time, I am going to tell you about a really fun experience that I had.

On the tenth of August this year in Miami, Florida, I was visiting my grandmother when my friend Yordy, sent me a message inviting me to a place out of the city. I did not know where we’d be going and so it was a surprise for me.

Yordy was with Jed and Sezni. They had planned to go with one of their friends to a water park. Jed, Yordy, Sezni, and their friend, Brian Conner, came to pick me up so we could all go.

When I saw the park, I was like “Wow!” because I had never been to a water park before and it was my first time seeing one. When we arrived and got out of the car, we could see the really big slides that covered the whole park.

Walking towards the park, we saw a huge line and so we had to wait outside for ten minutes. During those ten minutes, I waited with excited anticipation, to have the opportunity to go on one of the biggest slides that the park had.

Once we were inside, we went and changed into our swimming suits so that we could jump on the slides. When we were climbing up the stairs which led to the slides, we began to realise that we were rather really high up in the air, and I am a little afraid of heights, but Jed said to me, “Don’t be afraid.”

Once at the top, I sat in the mouth of the great slide. The water was so cold and Yordy did not want to go on the slide anymore because he was really, really scared. We told him to live a little and to go on with us but he refused, so we left him there and jumped on the tubes to go down the slide.

Inside of the slide, it was very dark. When I arrived at the bottom I was a tad shaken up but mostly happy because I was having so much fun with my family.

After a while of going up and down, up and down, I went to a really big pool and saw Sezni, Jed, and Brian. I asked them where Yordy was and they answered by saying that he was sitting on the stairs by the pool.

I was having a nice time chatting with Jed in the pool, when all of a sudden the water in the pool started to move. The water swelled and big waves formed. Being in the waves was really fun but then Jed grabbed me and was throwing me in the air.

Then, he jumped on top of me and I almost started to drown. I went running out of the pool and when I finally got out of the pool, Brian said, “Let’s go and eat.” So we all went to the restaurant like a happy family.

When we finished eating, we went on other water slides to have fun and once again, Yordy did not want to get on, so we left him there again. At the bottom, Brian said to us “The park is going to close soon.” So we went to change and get ready to leave.

Right when we were going to leave, we realized Sezni was missing. We became really worried as we looked for him. We hoped that nothing had happened to him. Jed and his friend went to go and look around the park for him but Yordy and I stayed at the entrance.

Twenty minutes passed and we didn’t see anything. Then far away we saw Sezni walking towards us crying. The good thing is that nothing happened to him and thank God Jed and Brian came back worried, but then they saw Sezni.

We went to the car to leave the water park and thank God everything went well and we had lots of fun. It was an unforgettable day for us.

Thank you for reading my story. Bye.

POST by SEZ: Renz's New PC

Sezni performing in CREATED

The Briens are my family and the Nicaraguan people are kids that live with us. The Nicaraguans are young boys that do tricking and Bboy. Together we did a play called created, which is about God and the Devil. We do it at churches to tell them the story of good versus evil.

One time, my sister felt sick and tired so she went outside to the van to wait until we had to go home. Aben and I, her brother, were in the van waiting when Jonny came out and also went in the van.

He brought my sister a plastic bag and inside the bag was a computer. He gave her the bag and said “this is for you” and she said ‘’what’s this?’’ He said ‘’it’s a computer’’ and it was a computer, but her face was just normal.

POST by FRAN: My Battling Brien-Bro

Sezni performing in the Nicavangelist Street Theatre Production, CREATED

Sezni, my brother, began to watch videos on youtube, he watched an epic Nerf gun battle. Nerf guns are toy guns that shoot out blue, yellow, orange or green darts that can stick to windows.

He would always exclaim "wow! These guns are sooo cool! I want one soo bad!" He told our mum about these awesome Nerf guns. One night mum wasn't home in time for Sezni's bed time, so he fell asleep in the dark and began to see stars and started dreaming about a Nerf gun battle.  The fight involved him and his friends battling the evil ones in the galaxy, with balls exploding into colour as they fought each other.

It seemed like five minutes had gone by before it was time to wake up and his dreams all disappeared into a safe place in his imagination.

As Sezni lay in his bed, still half asleep, he began to look around his room. He saw a plastic bag. The plastic bag was from Walmart. It was lying on the ground near his bed. Sezni crawled across his mattress towards the bunk bed ladder, curious to know what is in the Walmart bag. He reached the bunk bed ladder and began to climb down, skipping two steps at a time. "What is in that Walmart bag!?" He said with a tone full of suspense.

Sezni’s foster brother, Billy, has covers with Lightning McQueen on it. The covers were  lying at the bottom of the ladder. Sezni let go of the ladder and jumped down the rest of the way and landed on Billy's covers.

Sezni began to walk toward the plastic bag. He walked faster and faster untill he was standing directly over the plastic bag. He bent over and picked up the plastic bag. Closing his eyes tightly he felt the bag between his fingers, just like you’d with a birthday present. "NOOO! IS IT?!" he exclaimed excitedly! He ripped off the plastic bag and opened his eyes, "YES, YES, IT IS!!!"

He viciously tore off the cardboard packaging and flipped in the six blue darts to start rocking! His mum also had two midget guns and three darts, so my brother, Raffy, and him started to shoot at each other as they ran around and had a battle like the ones that Sezni had dreamt about.

They ended up getting really tired, "let's go get something to drink", Mummy suggested.  Sezni began walking towards the kitchen, "But I won!" Sezni stated firmly. "No, I won!" Raffy argued back. "Oooooh yeah?” came the rebuttal.  “Well I guess we'll just have to have another battle to prove it then..." They stared at each other eye to eye, then started circling. They stopped and began to laugh and then went arm-in-arm to the kitchen.

"We'll battle tomorrow to see who is the best", Raffy said in a baby voice. "Yeah, but I'm sure I'll win though",  Sezni assured his opponent but in a way that wouldn’t start another fight...

POST by SEZ: Good Fight, Bleed Right!

Sezni with Mayron & Leiskis

One Night, at a house that is like a cabin near a lake, one of the kids in our group threw a sandal right at my nose.  A lot of blood began to gush out of my nose and mouth.

I was on the bed, but then blood started to bleed out of my nose like it was rain pouring. I ran out of the bed on to the carpet, to the front door and outside with my dad trying to stop the bleeding.  The tricker and bboys tried to clean up the carpet and the floors and the beds.

Anna and her sister cleaned the floors and the carpets and washed everything.

I was bleeding to death!

Mum took the kid outside and screamed at him.

My sister was just looking at my nose and she was scared and she was screaming and crying.

Dad grabbed a glass of water then he started to tell me to drink a lot of water because he said I was losing a lot of liquid. I had to drink too much water because the kid threw a sandal at me while I was trying to sleep.

It hurt real bad, it felt like a tiger was biting my nose.

Dad told me, “You don’t need to go to the hospital, Sezni.”

Leyky felt terrible about what he did and he came out and said sorry for hurting me because my Mum yelled at him.

When I put a tissue in my nose, it stopped bleeding. After an hour, it stopped bleeding and I went back to bed.

I got a black bruise on my nose and I have had it for weeks now.

POST by FRAN: Tissue Toime!

Beautiful Francesca! (Watch out for that TREE!)

We have a big family and a lot of friends who live near and far from us… We have traveled a lot and we have only made more friends by doing so. Even if we go to the beach we make new friends.

Since November we have had family and friends come and visit, and most of the time it was hard for someone. One week Jenny Seaburg had a virus and it started out little but then it woke her up in the middle of the night and sent her to the hospital along with my Mum, Shane, Nanny, and myself as the translator.

It is important for us to know that we have friends that still love us. I know my friend limits are being lowered just because of the ministry I live in with my family and some friends’ relationships have changed so that now they’re like family to me.

This blogpost is sort of a good bye/I’ll miss you/thank you and memories to/for some of my closest friends and family.

Anna: I am going to really miss you when you go back to Minnesota, and if you don’t come back for a while I will always facebook and skype you. You are more than a friend to me… you are like my older sister that I have never had. I can’t wait to go to California and Minnesota with you!

Fran & Anna - Our first EVER GAP YEAR Leader... a GOLDEN GIRL if ever there was one!
Lorenzy: I know that you ARE my sister, but you are also my best friend. It will be harder to steal your clothes while I am in Canada, but when I see you I will. I have learned, with Anna’s help, that your sister is usually the only one that will always care about what is going on in your life. And you have always known and been there, in a way. I’m always here for you.
BFFs for LOIFE! Franny-pan & Renzy-roohs!

Jocasta: I have loved every talk that we have talked and every walk that we have walked, and I´m glad that you are back in Nicaragua. Don’t have too much fun while I am away in Canada I will miss you heaps! Love ya!

Jocasta the GREAT!
Natalie: I haven’t known you for that long, but you remind me of myself in some things. I know you don’t think so but, we are very similar in a few things, and I think you are a really nice girl.

Natalie, our latest GAP YEAR Leader...

Monica: I have known you for less than a week and I already think that you are awesome. You are like my Mum’s friend Racheal Morejon and I love you like a sister already! I’m happy that I have met you.

Monny, our newest Mexican-Australian Gapper - what a gal! We love you!!!

And for the tricker boys… I will miss you all after a while, but only after I get really home sick and start skyping everyone… haha just kidding… I really feel like you guys are my brothers and I will miss you guys just as much I will miss everyone else.

Francesca on tour in El Salvador with the Nicavangelists

And for my 3 real little brothers… stay safe, don’t get into trouble, and always trust your family. Sez lay off of the wii for a while, Raf don’t start any drama, and Billy stay little and cute.

Franny having a Good ol' laugh with Raffy

Mum and Dad: I have had a hard time and I know sometimes it was hard for you too, in understanding me. But I really haven’t been the best person for you to talk to. I haven’t been trying to change my attitude into a bad one.

Thanks for the opportunity to go to Canada. I’m preparing myself to go travel with all the boys and you guys to the states and I can’t believe that the visas got approved and it is such a blessing from God - I can’t wait to see their reaction on the plane! I’m already laughing! LoL… anyway, I’m just saying thank you and I hope you understand me… LOVE you guys lots!

Always remember that Family and friends are the best thing in life. For me this year is going to be great!

POST by SEZ: ZIP-pity doo dah

Zip-lining  Team (near Granada): Lorenzy, Francesca, Jenny, Rafael, Josiah, Sezni, Shane, Jed & Aidan

One day I went Zip lining. The time it takes  to zip line is one hour and thirty minutes. My dad, my mom, my sisters and my brother had to learn how to stop, speed and to be careful. We did the first one. It was fun. My family was having fun too, but my dad was acting like little girl.

We did the Superman, Upside down twice, and there was one that was three hundred meters long. We had to slow down at the end. After that we had to make a choice of either  two more or a surprise. Every one picked the surprise even me. The surprise was that they wiggled the line up and down many times.  We saw ten monkeys and we went for a snack.

Daddy (Jed), clearly very scared, acting like a little girl!
