POST by ELIEZER: Mi Tia

Eliezer of Capital on the Edge

Hello my name is Eliezer. Today I am going to share with you about a person who is very important to me.

My aunt is 30 years old. She has three kids. Two of her children had a father that was very aggressive with them and my aunt. He would hit her and treat them very badly. At times he would tell her to leave the house or sleep on the floor. She was not happy with her life in this condition.

The man married to my aunt had a massive problem with drugs and alcohol consumption. Because of his addictions, he would get mad at everything and over everything. He would treat my aunt and their kids badly, especially when she would ask him for bill and grocery money, because he never had any money – he always wasted it on drugs.

They never had food at their house and so my aunt had to go and ask her neighbors for a little bit of food, so that her kids would eat, but there was never enough for her. She would cry because she could not afford the life that she had.

When the father of my aunt´s kids would go out, my aunt would look for a job to do, so that she could take care of her kids and earn a little bit of money for food. She would wash clothes by hand. The clothes that she washed were not her own, they were the clothes of other people. She would do it even though her husband did not realise she was doing it.

Her husband was a very jealous man and one day, at their house, he found clothes that belonged to another man. He punched her in the face and left her eyes bruised and swollen. He also pulled her hair. It was like he was going to kill her because he was so furious.

Our family found out and we decided that we´d go and rescue her from the man. We formed a group consisting of members from our family.

We went to the house and saw that she was sick and had bruises. We begged her to leave with us but she was scared of that man. With our help she decided to escape from him and to take her two kids with her, but the man did not want to let them go.

We could only take one kid with us and the other one stayed with his father. My aunt was living at my grandmother´s house. She was happier without that man.

The man is now in jail and the other son that stayed with him is in a gang that is always on the streets. The son is in a terrible state because of the bad influence his father was on him, but my aunt has hope that he will soon leave the bad parts of his life behind him and get on with his life.

Thank you reading my story, I hope you liked it.

POST by JONNY: The Ones that Got Away

Jonny of Capital on the Edge, in San Francisco...

Hello my name is JOHNNY

My story is about my family.

When I was 13 years old, myself, my brothers and sisters all studied at the same school as my cousins. My cousins’ names were RICARDO and CHEPE. However, my cousins never hung out with us and my siblings and I wondered why this was. Why didn’t they want to spend time with us, especially as we were family.

One day my siblings and I went down to where my cousins were and asked them why they wouldn’t speak with us. They told us it was because they had many enemies at the school and if their enemies saw them associating with us, they would kill us. In addition to that, they told us not to tell anyone that our families were connected. They didn’t want the people around who were bad to hurt us. They were protecting us.

Another day, in the house in which we lived, we had a party. And as we looked out to the street, we saw about 20 men walking along, and amongst them we saw our cousins. All of the fellows were carrying guns and machetes in their hands.

Within 30 minutes my cousins had passed by our house again, returning to their barrio. Then I saw my friend being carried along by others and my mother (Jonny did not write this as he doesn’t want to put his mother in danger). He had been cut all over his body, by machetes. The person responsible for this terrible act was RICARDO, my cousin.

After five days, some men who lived near me, in my barrio, went to my aunt's house, where my cousins lived. When they arrived outside the house of my aunt, they started shooting their guns at and throwing stones at the house. They shot and almost killed my aunt because my cousins were not at home.

My cousins were incredibly angry that day. Because of what had happened, they went looking for some friends. They travelled in a mob to where the people from my barrio who had attacked their house, lived. On that day, in the evening, a shot rang out.

The next day there was a dead man, but my cousins were nowhere to be seen. The police went to find my cousins, but they were gone. To this day, the Police still look for them. I don’t know where they are. Nobody does. Only one person.  The police still want to find them, so as to prosecute them for the crimes that they have committed.

God bless you for reading my story, thank you.

POST by STIVEY: Thankfully the One Who Got A Way

Once, my brother was playing football. Well football is his favourite sport and he was playing in a park and a guy was there. After my brother had finished playing, the fellow who was also at the park wanted to steal my brother’s money.

My brother left the park at great speed, running towards our house. When he looked back there wasn’t just one chap chasing him, there were now two. My brother ran to where my cousins were. My cousins grabbed rocks from the ground and started pelting them at the would-be-robbers, who thanks to my cousins, ran away.

My brother didn’t know it, but the thieves lived in the same neighborhood as us. I think the robbers were waiting for their time of revenge. They didn’t act, they just waited.

One day, the robbers were watching my brother. They wanted to stab him with a knife. The thieves almost succeeded. My brother was fighting with one of them and the other pulled out a knife and threw it at my brother’s neck. However, my brother saw the knife coming and ducked away from it, only being slightly nicked on his neck.

Thanks to God, someone called for my cousins, who arrived on the scene quick-smart. My cousins started throwing stones at the two bad dudes and they started to run, but my cousin hit one of them. He lay on the ground in pain and the other ran away and left his companion lying there in the dirt.

My cousins wasted no time in doling out their punishment. They beat him. They nearly killed him! Then my brother said to my cousins “stop it, or he'll die!”

The police arrived shortly after and took the robber away as their prisoner and put him in prison. And so they never tried to steal from my brother again and thank God he was not killed.

POST by STIVEY: Sharing From the Heart

Stivey

Hey! I'm Steven, and I’m going to talk about when I was small.  I was living with my parents and a cousin of mine in the house. I thought that my cousin was a good person so I looked up to him and also my family.   My cousin asked if he could sleep in my room, I told him that I did not mind and in time he continued to visit me and started to touch me.

I was very nervous because I thought my cousin was doing the wrong thing, but my cousin continued touching my body. In time he began to caress my body parts and one day I told my brother and he did not believe me, my family said I was crazy.

I was very nervous because I thought I should not continue to allow him to do this wrong thing to me. I asked God every day for help and then one day my cousin came into my room, but I told him to get out of my room or else I would call my father and he would send him out of the house.

My cousin started laughing at me and said, “my uncle believes me more me than you!” My cousin continued to enter my room, every night.

One day my father looked into my room (when I was in bed) and noticed that something was wrong. My dad caught my cousin fondling me and my dad said to me, “I'm so sorry for everything” and he was very sorry.

I ran from the house where my cousin lived.  I thank God he gave me the strength and helped me get away from the abuse, he only touched my body not my soul.
