POST by YADER: Dengue, Diabetes and the Doctor

Yader & his Grandmother (Mum)

Hello my name is Yader. The story that I’m going to share with you is about my Mum.

One day my Mum wasn't feeling really good, but she always says that she is fine so we don't worry about her. But that same day my Mum went to the kitchen to cook and she fainted. Everyone became sad and worried, so we took her to the hospital.

When we got to the hospital, the medical staff took her immediately to the observation area and took care of her. Two hours went by and the doctor came out and told us that she needed to stay in the hospital because they needed to keep a close eye on her as she had contracted Dengue Fever. They said that if she went home she could most certainly die.

After three days we went to visit her in the hospital and the doctor told us that my Mum was still really very sick and had a lot of medical problems. I asked the doctor what the issues were and the doctor said she had low blood pressure and possibly diabetes.

We spent a lot of time praying for her, believing that she could get better and thanks to God my Mum was able to recover bit by bit. Some time later the doctors let my Mum come home.

Thanks to God my Mum’s health has gotten so much better with time, and we continue asking God to keep her healthy.

I hope you liked my little story. Thanks for reading it. God bless you today!

POST by YADER: El aboindono de mis padres

Morning Devotions (Capital on the Edge)

Hello my name is Yader.

When I was just five months old, my parents abandoned me and my grandmother adopted me. My parents did not have money to buy me food and everything that I needed. They were very poor and that is why they decided to give me to my grandmother.

I do not feel badly knowing all that, because my grandmother has always been by my side. She has loved me and helped me in my life. I thank God because he gave me my grandmother and she supported me and never turned her back on me.

I am now 21 years old and I thank God that I do not have any addictions. My grandmother always told me to move forward with God and not to get caught up with anything else.

God has helped me overcome obstacles and he’s given me direction. I have always had everything that I’ve needed, because I’ve always been with him.

Now I am a missionary for God and I feel like he has given me a purpose. From the bottom of my heart I can tell you that I exist to help people who are addicts. I live to evangelise people in the streets, so that whoever needs the Lord can know him through me.

Thank you for reading my story. God richly bless you and protect you.

POST by YADER: Falsely Abused

Yader of Capital on the Edge

One day I saw a friend, and they asked me to trade $100 of their money into Cordobas (the National Currency of Nicaragua).

I went to a casino located close to where I was.

When I arrived at the casino, I went to the cash registers and asked an attendant if he could change the money for me. He responded by telling me that he was able to do the trade.

After a couple of moments, the man told me to "hang on a sec" because there was a problem with the money that he was changing for me. I waited patiently.

All of a sudden the police arrived and the man that was changing the money said to them that I wanted to rob him by giving him a false $100 bill.

However I did not know that it was a false bill and I explained to my authorities that the money was not mine, but the Pólice did not care to listen to me, and so they put me in hand cuffs and took me away.

I was very sad, because when I was in prison there were bad people there and they would hurt me significantly. After being beat up, I asked God to help me to get out of that horrible place.

The next day, a Póliceman came to me and said that I was free, and that I could go to my house. (HE FREES THE CAPTIVE!!!)

Yader with his sister and aunt

POST by YADER: Digging Deeper into My Heart

Yader working on a computer at Capital on the Edge

When I was just 6 months of age, I suffered a lot, because my mother worked all the time. She needed to work to buy me food. I had a medical condition known as epilepsy. When I experienced seizures I couldn’t breathe properly.

My mother suffered a lot, but one day we went to the doctor. The doctor said to my mum, “Yader is VERY sick. He is not being fed properly.” Because I was malnourished I had more seizures. My father used to beat me in the head when I was 4 months old, and so I became sicklier.

One day some people told my grandmother about my father’s aggression towards me. My grandmother told my parents to leave our house. My aunty tried to convince my grandmother to let my mother return. My grandmother would have none of it. She would only allow my aunty to live with us.

Yader's BEAUT grandmother
When I grew up and went to school, the teachers realized that I had problems and because of these problems, I have never learnt to read or write. I had problems due to being malnourished and beaten on the head.

Dinner time - Yader's Gran serves up a TREAT!
About this time my mother game my sister away. My grandmother told my mother to go and find my baby sister and to bring the little baby back to my grandmother. My mother never came back.

Yader's grandmother, literally mothering 2 generations of Nicaraguans
My sister was returned to us when she was 11 years old. I was great friends with my sister and we trusted each other. She told me that when she was smaller she was abused. I prayed to God a lot that he would help my sister and I as we continued to grow. My grandmother ALWAYS helped us.

A few years later our father returned and took my sister. He took her to the Leon Highway, with his new wife. They worked hard and always left my sister in their house alone.

My baby sister was alone in the new house when one day a man entered, uninvited and raped her. My grandmother was sick and so my sister and I continued to suffer.

Then I met Jed’s family in the Church. They invited me to go to their house. God touched me. I am grateful to Jed’s family because they are with me in both good times and bad. I say to God, “Bless Jed’s family.”

POST by YADER: Flying HIGH!

Beycker & Yader, first time flyers

On the 19th of March I boarded an airplane for the very first time. As we arrived at the airport I felt nervous, sad and excited.  When we got to the airport they asked for my passport and I thought that I was not going to make it.

When I got on the airplane I was very nervous. I was very anxious and did not know what to do. When the airplane began to take-off I felt like it was the last day I was going to live. My stomach felt as though it was being tickled. When we were flying over the water I felt like we were going to fall. I had to remind myself that I knew how to swim.

When we were going to land I felt like the plane was going to blow up or at least the wings might fly off. When we got to Miami, we went to eat but I couldn’t enjoy it since I felt like I was going to die because of how cold the airport was.

Yader, in Los Angeles

When we got to a pastor’s home, I went to take a shower, but the water was freezing cold. I could not shower! I had to call the pastor to help me out.

At the end, whatever happens, I am happy to be here.

POST by YADER: Testimony

Yader in San Diego

My name is Yader, and this is my story.

When I was 5 months old my parents left me with my grandmother, her name was Carmen. My parents went their own two ways because of an argument. My grandmother raised me.

When I was 5 years old my parents wanted to meet me and tell me that they were my parents. I told them that I understood. They left again and I stayed with my grandmother.

Yader's Gran, Carmen Castillo

My grandmother always looked after me and I thank God because I feel like my grandmother is my mum. I entered preschool when I was 7. I passed into secondary and then dropped out of school.

I went to a band and I have played in that band for 13 years. I feel really happy to have my grandmother who introduced me to my teacher who has taught me a lot. I play the bongos.

In 2011 I had to go to jail because of going to a disco with a few friends and wanting to change an American 100 dollar bill, which they said was fake. The disco folks called the police and I went to jail at 10pm. I called my grandmother and she gathered 80 signatures in support of my innocence. She went to my teacher and the CPC (the Sandanista’s youth department) insisted that I be let go. I am glad to have those people that fought for me so that I could get out of jail.

Now I am sorry for what I did when my grandmother was suffering and I am sorry that I didn’t obey her and didn’t listen to her. I feel grateful for my lovely grandmother who looked after me and raised me and cared for me. I give thanks to God that he gave me such a wonderful grandmother. I learnt a lot from her and I am sorry for everything that I have done, because she was always there for me.

Thank you for reading my story. Now that I have God in my life, I feel bad for all the bad things that I have done in my life and am so thankful for my grandmother and God. My grandmother’s name is Carmen Castillo.

POST by YADER: HOW did the Chicken Cross the Road

Yader in San Diego

I feel very happy because I am here in the States.  The family we are staying with are very kind with big hearts.  They have opened up their home for our whole group.  The house is beautiful and they have 2 little dogs which I like.

One time at 11pm for 40 mins we all jumped into their jacuzzi. I really liked using the Jacuzzi because I felt cold and I was tired after performing for the youth group.

Another day, they took us to the pier.  We walked around and saw boats and got a lot of exercise. There were a lot of tourists. The beach reminded me of Nicaragua, but here their beaches are clean unlike Nicaragua.  I was surprised that there was no rubbish about the place – it is so clean! I hope to visit more beaches here.

At the pier in San Diego, visiting a Famous Warship

At the traffic lights here they have buttons for people to press if they want to cross the road.  I saw a train in the city too. In Nicaragua we don’t have trains.

The church here is the same as Nicaragua, and it has services in both English and Spanish.
