POST by ABEN: Lorenzy's Dreams Come True

Aben riding his pony

This is a story about my friend Lorenzy Brien. The first time I met Lorenzy was at a mall with my friend. Her and her family went to the mall to see a Nicaraguan folklore dance presentation. After watching the Nica show, the Brien family went to a restaurant to eat and that is where something awesome happened.

They met two boys that were doing flips in front of the restaurant that they were at and they saw something spectacular. She saw how those boys jumped and flipped very well and so Lorenzy’s family and her got out of their seats and said “oh wow thats incredible!” and at the moment that those guys were leaving because security were kicking them out, her dad and Lorenzy’s sister went after them.

Before the boys left, the Brien family approached them to chat about their fantastic gymnastics abilities. They did not have jobs and they were looking for jobs and Lorenzys dad asked them if they wanted a job at her dad’s house to teach the kids in their community and school. Her dad had even seen the boys on youtube because the boys would upload videos to the internet of themselves doing the sport, “tricking.” (a modern street form of gymnastics with martial arts)

Lorenzy’s dad would pray every day, asking God to help him find the boys and God heard his prayers. It was a miracle that Lorenzy’s dad found the boys.

Now she feels very happy because there are kids that are searching for God that they are helping. Her sister and the people their family have taken from the streets, and herself, have now formed a group to serve God. They are taking a message that is about good choices and bad choices and that only God can save us, to the World.

Today Lorenzy is even happier, because before she met us she only had like seven people in her family and now she has like 20 people. She thanks God because now the Christian group, the Nicavangelists, have fourteen missionaries in the troupe, and they are helping people in the World that have lost their way. Now the word of God is going to other countries, so that other people may find salvation in a loving God.

POST by RENZ: Aben's First Flight

Aben in Fancy Dress

When Aben was a child, about 13 years old, he liked to watch a lot of action movies and movies where people would be flipping all around the place. He would say to himself "Ah that is really cool, but what they’re doing is not real."

One day, at Aben’s house, he was having a lot of problems that were humiliating and offensive to him. So, he left everything and went to his aunt’s house.

When Aben got there, his cousin, who is more like a brother to him, was already at the house. Having Aben’s cousin there was like a gift from God because at that moment he did not know it, but his life would have a new beginning because he did a flip, which was the first trick that Aben had seen in real life.

When Aben saw his cousin flip he could not believe it, but it made him feel excited and he liked the tricks a lot. Aben did not know what gift God had given him but through his cousin he found out that his gift was an acrobatic sport called “tricking.”

Aben Tricking
The best thing about being able to do tricking is that he can teach other people how to do the gift that God has given him and now there are a lot of people that do tricking, because of our Nicaragua boy, Aben.

God loves all of us the same and we all have a place with him but we have to find him.

POST by RAF: California!

Rafael, the GREAT!

First we all went to Sand Diego, then Sacramento, next San Carlos after that we went to Davis, which was where my favorite church was, because it had a Foozball game and lots of food and other fun stuff!

My family and I slept in the Sunday school place and the rest in the Sunday school for big children.

After Davis we went to Alimo, where we went to rent a car because nobody picked us up. We rented two small cars for fourteen people! We arrived at the church in the night but they did not want us to be there so we went out to another church in the day and went back to the other church that didn't want us at night.

We love traveling the world!

POST by RENZ: Fisherman's WAR

Lorenzy at Fisherman's Wharf
On Tuesday, we went out to the pier here in San Francisco. The pier is called Fisherman’s wharf. It is really pretty when you are right on the beach because of all the birds and the sunset is to die for. We went to the beach so that we could go ‘busking’ but when we got there, we just wandered around because it was amazingly beautiful and because it was cold.

We wandered around on the sand for a while and the guys did a little bit of tricking. Then, we walked slowly over to the pier and started to stroll down it. There were quite  lot of people fishing there so we stood next to them and watched them.

There was an Asian lady and a man that had this strange looking net. It looked interesting and so we went over to them to see what they were doing. When they threw the net into the water, we saw a figure in the water that was dawdling towards us.

When it was close to us, he popped his head above the water and we saw that it was a seal. The guys started making jokes about it such as “Hey, his face looks just like yours!” We just stood there and looked at it. I thought it was weird because it was so close to shore. Then the man pulled the net up and the seal swam away.

We stayed there waiting to see if it would come back. It did come back, but when it came back, it came back with a friend. Another seal. We kept on watching it and they would swirl in the water. My dad was further down and then he said “Here’s another one! There are three of them!”

The Cute little Seal

Once we got bored of looking at the seals, we walked down the rest of the pier. There were people swimming in the water. We took photos and did freezes on the wall. After we had gotten back to the cars we were all really cold.

From the beach, we went to the tricking place and we practiced with Brandon McCuien, a famous tricker that the guys are in love with because he is really good at doing flips in the air. We were there until two in the morning.

POST by ELIEZER: Pretty Tricky

Eliezer, with his Team, BEFORE his Accident

Hello, my name is Eliezer.

I send you my story all the way from the USA. I hope you like it!

Since we’ve been in the US, we’ve been to a LOT of places. Many good and bad things have happened. My friends have changed significantly since being here. They are now more aggressive and joke around more. Sometimes I feel alone and I miss my whole family.

I am currently in pain because of a gymnastics accident at a fun trampoline place. I sprained my toe. My toe became swollen. I was in so much pain that I couldn’t even talk. I was scared too, because I thought I wouldn’t be able to do my sport, “tricking”, ever again. It was a very bad experience for me, as it has stopped me from being able to practice and perform with my group. When they dance I can only sit and watch. I want to participate! I am desperate to be in the group again…

Since my toe issues, I’ve felt at odds with everyone in my group. Everyone in our team has pain in their bodies and they get upset too. But I know God is going to heal them and after all, everything that happens in life, happens for a reason - even if it doesn’t feel right at the time.

Last Monday, we went to a gym (Twisters in San Jose) where the best trickers in the World visit. We met many people who are really good at our sport, and they taught us techniques to prevent pain. My foot was sore so I couldn’t practice, but I listened, watched and learned.

I give thanks to God that I am getting better. Thanks for reading my story.
