POST by ORLANDO: Pneumonia

Orlando, at the Assemblies of God's Family Camp in Minnesota

Hello dear friends, brothers, sisters and family.

Its Orlando here and I hope you are doing just fine! Today I want to share with you about an awesome time in my life, when a miracle occurred. God was with me, and through his help I was able to escape death.

Two years ago, I was on the verge of death due to pneumonia. It started suddenly with a cough that just would not go away. A month went by and I still had this cough. Every day became more intense and delicate – I had a lot of phlegm.

One day I had so much pain in my throat and lungs. I coughed well into the night. It was 12:30am when I got up from my bed because I could not take all the coughing.

My throat stung so much because of the phlegm and congestion I was experiencing. It felt like I was drowning and I felt very tired. My chest ached because I was not able to breathe - I couldn’t get oxygen into my body.
.
I felt like I was dying, and thank God my brother got up from his bed and helped me breathe again. My house flew into a flurry when they realised how serious the problem was.

My family immediately rushed me to hospital, but I still remained the same. In fact, my condition deteriorated because every time I coughed I would choke on phlegm. Four days went by and I just could not do it anymore.

I overcame my fear and resigned myself to death. The pain in my chest was huge and I wanted to die because the medical staff could not do anything for me. The doctors did not know what it was that was killing me and the medicines treating my condition were ineffective.

Two days passed and many pastors prayed for me, but what I didn’t realise was that God was in control of my life.

Thanks to God for a Christian brother, a true servant of God, which Heaven used greatly. This fella went to my house and told me that I was going to die, that I had a spirit of death following me, seeking to kill me. After explaining this, he started to pray for me.

My family and I prayed diligently to God, believing for my healing. Miraculously, I was healed by God and also received something awesome, being baptised in the Holy Spirit.

Thank God I am here and healthy because of Him. I want to tell you that if you look to God and believe from a sincere heart, he can make miracles in your life.

God bless you and protect you.

Hola queridos amigos, hermanos y familiares.

POST by JOSE: Let's go to the Beach, Beach...

Orlando & Jose of Capital on the Edge

Something important happened in my life about two years ago. We were organising a trip with some friends. We were just about finished packing for our journey when a 57 year old neighbour gave us a pound of rice and vegetables to take with us.

One of my friends made fun of the gift that the lady was offering, laughing at her, but my other friend told him off, and said that he shouldn’t be rude to her, because she is elderly and in any case, we might need the food for our journey.

And so we thanked the old lady for giving us the food, the rice and the vegetables. We then left on our journey. We went to the coast and the people we were staying with didn’t want to give us any food to eat. When we became hungry, we remembered that we had the food from the nice neighbour lady

And so we asked the people that we were staying with if we could using their cooking facilities to prepare our food, as we had no money spare. The only money we had, we needed for our transportation on the bus.

In the following days we were very hungry.  We had nothing to eat. We arose at 5am and went to the beach and gathered crabs and coconuts, and ate them raw.

We went to the beachside restaurants and danced for the foreign tourists. None of them gave us any money. The restaurants didn’t give us food either. However, one of my friend’s aunts kindly gave us food to eat: fish and salad. She also gave us a fizzy drink each. We were so grateful to her, because she gave to us when we were really hungry.

The next day we hitch hiked home. After a few months went by, we found out that the kind lady who had helped us with food in our time of great need, had passed away on account of a heart attack. This lady had been very overweight.

We were very sad, because my friend’s aunt has in Heaven with God. If it were not for her, in our hour of need, who knows what would have happened to us. Thank the Good Lord that he put her in our way at that exact moment. We really appreciated her kindness and we hope that she rests in peace with God.

Obesity is a terrible disease that affects most people and it takes away your life bit by bit. However, trust in God who is the only one who can truly help us. Thanks for reading my story.

POST by YADER: Digging Deeper into My Heart

Yader working on a computer at Capital on the Edge

When I was just 6 months of age, I suffered a lot, because my mother worked all the time. She needed to work to buy me food. I had a medical condition known as epilepsy. When I experienced seizures I couldn’t breathe properly.

My mother suffered a lot, but one day we went to the doctor. The doctor said to my mum, “Yader is VERY sick. He is not being fed properly.” Because I was malnourished I had more seizures. My father used to beat me in the head when I was 4 months old, and so I became sicklier.

One day some people told my grandmother about my father’s aggression towards me. My grandmother told my parents to leave our house. My aunty tried to convince my grandmother to let my mother return. My grandmother would have none of it. She would only allow my aunty to live with us.

When I grew up and went to school, the teachers realized that I had problems and because of these problems, I have never learnt to read or write. I had problems due to being malnourished and beaten on the head.

Dinner time - Yader's Gran serves up a TREAT!
About this time my mother game my sister away. My grandmother told my mother to go and find my baby sister and to bring the little baby back to my grandmother. My mother never came back.

My sister was returned to us when she was 11 years old. I was great friends with my sister and we trusted each other. She told me that when she was smaller she was abused. I prayed to God a lot that he would help my sister and I as we continued to grow. My grandmother ALWAYS helped us.

A few years later our father returned and took my sister. He took her to the Leon Highway, with his new wife. They worked hard and always left my sister in their house alone.

My baby sister was alone in the new house when one day a man entered, uninvited and raped her. My grandmother was sick and so my sister and I continued to suffer.

Then I met Jed’s family in the Church. They invited me to go to their house. God touched me. I am grateful to Jed’s family because they are with me in both good times and bad. I say to God, “Bless Jed’s family.”
