Welcome Billy-Boy

Who is Billy...? well in a nut shell, Billy is a precious little boy, who came to live with us in January 2011. Billy arrived at the Managua orphanage friendz of ours run early December 2010. Before coming to Managua, Billy had been placed in the orphanage in Waspam Rio Coco on the Atlantic Coast. From what we have been able to find out so ...far, his mother was only 13/14 years old (she doesn't know how old she is, as she is an orphan) and was a victim of abuse (which sadly is the case with many young girls here). Before we had even seen him, we all felt a connection to him, which was strange as we have helped out at many centres and been in contact with many many many kids.. but even this top picture of him melted our hearts and we knew God had a plan.

Well, we hadn't seen Billy in person, just a photo and we kept saying we'd go up to the orphanage to see him (and of course the other kiddies and our friends) but as typical, life threw distractions at us which prevented us from going up wh...en we planned to. Then one day, we all arrived home to find that we had been robbed! They had taken EVERYTHING they could, from electronicals to hair gel.. we had been cleaned out! well, we ran around the house yelling out all the things that had gone missing, the TV's gone, the laptop, the rollerskates, the dvd player, the guitar, the gas tank! when all of sudden Rafi cries out.. oh no they've taken my plastic plate Granny sent me... well that stopped us all and weall started looking for the plate, lucky for Raf, we found the plate in the kitchen sink still dirty from the morning's toast. 'We'd never seen him so happy to wash up before!

This was the hole they had made to get in and out of our property

Looking for the plate also changed us, we realised that it's not all about stuff, even though we were disappointed, but that day we realised that we had allowed this stuff to get in the way of what was really important... Jed suddenly yelled out, "come on, let's go to the orphanage" so the night we were robbed we all just shut the door, jumped in the car and went up to the orphanage.

Sezni daily pours into Billy, he loves teaching him how to play, read and have fun.
When we arrived it was chaos! All the babies were sick with the flu, and the two volunteer workers were exhausted. We all set to work, feeding, bathtime, reading, singing, dishing out medicine - it was beautiful to watch our own kids rising above their own disappointment at losing their precious toys and clothes, and joyfully helping out.

This night was the first night we all met Billy. He was very sick with a heavy cold and needed to be rocked to sleep and just loved on. We all took turns wiping his running nose, and patting him on the back to ease the coughing. We stifled chuckles as he snored on like a farm tractor. As we drove home that night, we all chatted on about how precious all the kids are, and how we knew as a family this is what we were called to do also, and our conversation kept going back to Billý.
In January, Billy came to stay with our family - we just adore him x

Billy LOVES lining up all his cars

We were wondering how the kids would handle having Billy enter our family.  I told Raf he was still my baby, and he said "nah Mum, I don´t want to be the baby, I want Billy to be that now"

Precious!
